Children Ministries

The first goal of our children’s ministry is to love and value each child as an individual, and to show each child they are welcome in God’s family.

Kids play a vital part in the St. Giles community.

Sunday Mornings

While in the church service they actively participate in worship by singing and taking communion. We also have colouring pages with clipboards available for people of all ages.  They can be found right by the front doors.

Kids are always welcome to stay in the service. They have the option to join in Sunday School downstairs. During the school year, we provide Sunday School for Preschool – Grade 7 (ages 3 – 12). Teens can assist as helpers in the Sunday School.

Our Sunday School takes breaks during Summer break, Christmas break, and Spring break, as well as on holiday weekends. When there is no Sunday School, children encouraged to stay in the service and are welcome to make use of the colouring pages provided in the foyer.

Parents’ Room

For children ages 0 – 3, there is a parents’ room available downstairs next to the Sunday School. Parents are welcome to make use of this room, which is stocked with infant and toddler toys and books, a change table, toddler snacks, and a TV you can choose to turn on to connect to the livestream of the service upstairs. A change table is also available in the main floor bathroom.

Sunday School – Younger Class (Preschool – Grade 3)

Children ages 3 – 8 (Preschool to Grade 3) are welcome to join our younger class.

Each Sunday, a teacher and helper (on rotation) lead the class through the Godly Play series, which gives them a chance to explore their faith through story and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play.

Sunday School – Older Class (Grades 4 – 7)

Children ages 9 – 12 (Grades 4 – 7) are welcome to join our older class. The older class meets every Sunday,  except on Communion Sundays (usually the first Sunday of the month). On Communion Sundays, these students are encouraged to stay in the service to participate in Communion but also as a soft transition into worshiping with the congregation after they graduate elementary school.

Each Sunday, a teacher and helper (on rotation) lead the class through the Dwell curriculum, which helps to solidify familiarity with Biblical stories through lessons aimed at the intermediate student level.

While we use various programs for our Sunday School, we provide time and space to learn about God and encourage the children to ask questions.
